Overview
Through the LGBTQ TA Center, the Center for Applied Research Solutions (CARS) provides no-cost technical assistance and training to six grantee organizations, funded through the California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP), to implement and evaluate community-defined evidence programs (CDEPs) that support mental health among California’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning populations.
CRDP is funded through the MHSA and is administered through OHE/CDPH. The immediate goal of CRDP is to invest in these CDEPs to evaluate and validate practices that provide credible evidence of effectiveness. The long-term goal is to support the replication and dissemination of CDEPs serving communities that have historically been un-, under-, or inappropriately served by the state’s mental health system. In all, the initiative supports 32 programs and five priority population groups: African Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders, Latinos, LGBTQ+, and Native Americans.
CARS is proud to advance practices that reduce mental health disparities, and CDEPs have shown positive results. Since 2016, TA Center staff and consultants have been working intensively with the grantees to promote strategic planning, effective implementation, rigorous evaluation, successful scaling-up, and ongoing sustainability.
