Prevention

At CARS, we meet prevention professionals and leaders where they are, building capacity and creating sustainable pathways to strengthen the prevention field.

CARS provides trusted guidance, training, and technical assistance to support prevention efforts nationwide, working with individuals new to the prevention workforce, county and state agencies, and county-based organizations. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in primary prevention, including the development, launch, and implementation of statewide TTA centers, CARS brings deep subject matter expertise and systems-level knowledge to its partnerships.

Through professional development, capacity building, and tailored support, we help partners meet federal and state substance use disorder (SUD) prevention priorities and design prevention strategies beyond those requirements, developing customized approaches that reflect their organizational and community needs. We help organizations and prevention professionals apply evidence-based strategies and community-centered approaches that address the social drivers of health and strengthen prevention efforts.

Our training events and consultation services promote cross-sector collaboration, culturally responsive practices, and attention to individual and community risk and protective factors, helping build prevention systems that respond to the unique strengths and needs of their communities.
